Welcome to BGMA - Black Girl Magic Activate Organization
Founded by Carmen Rene, BGMA (Black Girl Magic Activate) stands at the forefront of women’s empowerment, with a special focus on uplifting and empowering Black Women. As an inclusive organization and village for Black Women, we open our doors to all women who are committed to our mission of empowerment, understanding, and transformation. While BGMA warmly welcomes women from all walks of life, we are deeply committed to giving back to a culture that is both deprived and misunderstood—ensuring that little Black girls have role models who look like them, providing direction, representation, and mentorship that resonate with their unique experiences.
Our Purpose
Our purpose is multifaceted: to empower Black Women to navigate the world with confidence and authenticity, to educate all women on the unique challenges faced by Black communities, and to foster an environment of support and understanding. We recognize the specific hurdles Black women encounter—systemic, personal, and professional—and strive to create a sanctuary where these issues are addressed head-on, allowing for healing, growth, and empowerment.
Our Mission
At BGMA, our mission is clear: to ignite change, inspire action, and instill a sense of unbreakable confidence in Black Women. We aim to dismantle the barriers that limit potential, offering programs, resources, and a supportive community tailored to the needs of Black women. Through table talks, education/knowledge, mentorship, and empowerment, we work to create a ripple effect of positive transformation, touching lives within and beyond our immediate community.
What We Offer
BGMA is proud to offer a diverse range of initiatives designed to meet the needs of our members:
An Inclusive Community: A supportive network where women of all backgrounds can find understanding, support, and camaraderie.
Purple Table Talk: Inspired by the power of conversation, Purple Table Talk is a series of intimate discussions and panels that address the core issues affecting Black Women today. These talks serve as a platform for deep dialogue, offering insights, solutions, and a shared sense of solidarity.
Focused Educational Workshops and Webinars: Tailored programs addressing the unique challenges and opportunities for Black Women, alongside broader topics of interest to all women.
Book Club: Our book club is a journey through the words and wisdom of Black authors and beyond, exploring themes of empowerment, history, and personal growth. It's a space for literary exploration and discussion, connecting members through the shared love of reading.
Mentorship Opportunities: Connecting young Black girls and women with mentors who reflect their experiences and aspirations.
Empowerment and Cultural Events: Celebrating the achievements and heritage of Black women, while fostering inclusive spaces for dialogue and networking.
Wellness and Self-Care Resources: Prioritizing mental, physical, and emotional health with tools and programs for all, with particular attention to the challenges faced by Black Women.
Creative Expression and Cultural Celebration: Encouraging all women to explore and express their identities, while highlighting the rich traditions of Black culture.
"I Need a Break" Retreats: Looking ahead, we're excited to introduce "I Need a Break" retreats—a series of rejuvenating getaways designed for rest, reflection, and connection. These retreats will offer workshops, wellness activities, and the chance to forge deep connections with fellow members in serene settings.
